Near-Field Coupling Communication Technology For Human-Area Networking
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a human-area networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a data transmission path and uses near-field coupling TRXs. This technology aims to achieve a „touch and connect” form of communication and a new concept of “touch the world” by using a quasi-electrostatic field signal that propagates along the surface of the human body. This paper explains the principles underlying near-field coupling communication. Special attention has been paid to commonmode noise since our communication system is strongly susceptible to this. We designed and made a common-mode choke coil and a transformer to act as common-mode noise filters to suppress common-mode noise. Moreover, we describe how we evaluated the quality of communication using a phantom model with the same electrical properties as the human body and present the experimental results for the packet error rate (PER) as a function of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) both with the common-mode choke coil or the transformer and without them. Finally, we found that our system achieved a PER of less than 10 in general office rooms using raised floors, which corresponded to the quality of communication demanded by communication services in ordinary office spaces.

Personal Area Networks (PAN): Near-Field Intra-Body Communication
PAN is a wireless communication system that allows electronic devices on and near the human body to exchange digital information through near-field electrostatic coupling. Information is transmitted by modulating electric fields and electrostatically (capactively) coupling picoamp currents into the body. The body conducts the tiny current (e.g., 50 pA) to body mounted receivers. The environment...
متن کاملAC Electric Field Communication for Human-Area Networking
We have proposed a human-area networking technology that uses the surface of the human body as a data transmission path and uses an AC electric field signal below the resonant frequency of the human body. This technology aims to achieve a “touch and connect” intuitive form of communication by using the electric field signal that propagates along the surface of the human body, while suppressing ...
متن کاملUsing near field communication technology to achieve near-zero-configuration of sensors
Numerous companies and educational institutions have begun research into pervasive healthcare systems to address the growing need for caretaking and out-of-hospital monitoring. These systems allow for automatic and distributed monitoring of patients, but inherently require installation and maintenance configuration of the sensor network and communication platform. To avoid burdening caretaking ...

متن کاملTest and Evaluation of Patient Tracking Platform: Use of Near Field Communication
In an earthquake situation, medical response communities such as field and referral hospitals are being challenged with injured victims’ identification and tracking. In our project, we developed a patient tracking platform (PTP). In this platform, first responders triage the patients with an electronic tag that reports the location and some information of each patient during his or her movement...
